At Kamakhya (A Tantric Goddess that evolved in the Himalayan hills) Temple in Guwahati, Assam State of India, the large no. of goats and pigeons are sacrificed.
If you wish to offer a creature, but not have it killed, then you pay for its upkeep. The result of that is the large numbers of goats wandering around, happily munching on leftover foods and wafer packets in nearby public places. There are also lots of pigeons with pink marks on them — offered but not sacrificed.
