About

Animal sacrifice is the ritual killing of an animal as part of a religion. It is practiced by many religions as a means of appeasing a god or gods or changing the course of nature. Animal sacrifice has turned up in almost all cultures, from the Hebrews to the Greeks and Romans and from the Aztecs to the Hindus.

The Global Campaign to Stop Animal Sacrifice, founded in 2005 by Prof. Sudesh Kumar (@vegansudesh), is an inclusive international movement dedicated to ending ritual animal slaughter while respecting religious freedom and cultural traditions. We connect with faith leaders, community organizers, and policymakers to offer evidence-based resources, philosophical dialogue, and practical guidelines—such as symbolic offerings, plant-based substitutes, and reimagined rites that honor life.

Our initiative is not an assault on any religion but a respectful invitation to evolve practices toward compassion, public health, and modern ethics. Through digital outreach, educational campaigns, and collaborative policy work, the movement reduces animal suffering while empowering communities to retain spiritual intent.
